Nsukka lawyers protest alleged grab of court land by LG boss

Legal practitioners under the auspices of Opi Lawyers Forum (OLF) on Saturday protested the alleged grabbing of Opi customary court land by Nsukka Local Government Council Chairman, Chief Jude Asogwa to build a market. The lawyers accused the council boss of converting parts of the customary court land to build market lockup shops which according to them will distort the serenity of the court environment. The lawyers, in a peaceful protest, gathered at the customary court premises where foundations for the building of the market had already been dug, insisting that market and court cannot operate in the same environment. Addressing newsmen shortly after conducting members of the forum around the Opi customary court land, Mr Casimir Agbo, the chairman of the Opi Lawyers Forum said that they were at the court to protest the illegality of building market within the court environment. Planned UNAA meeting: Agua-Onyekwelu-led group writes MOUA VC Umudike

All seemed not to be well with the leadership of University Nigeria Alumni Association, UNAA as the splitter group led by Agua-Onyekwelu group has petitioned the Vice-Chancellor of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia state, demanding for immediate abrogation of the convention of the 115th convention of the alumni. In a letter dated December 1, 2024, jointly signed by the National President, Queen Dr. Mrs. Linda Agua-Onyekwelu  and National Secretary, Tony Chukwu and made available to our reporter cited lack of financial transparency and contempt of court order as their reasons for call for dissociation from the National Executive Council of the Association scheduled to hold from 5th to 8th December, 2024. US Country Director says, youths hold key to peace building, social cohesion
