Gov Ugwuanyi says, education is the bedrock for development

By Agency Report  Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State says his administration prioritized education since assumption of office in 2015 because is the bedrock of development. Ugwuanyi said this in Nsukka on Thursday while delivering the 5th Adada Lecture organised by Association of Nsukka Professors (ANP) and  official unveiling of  State University of Medical & Applied Sciences  (SUMAS) Igbo-Eno  of Enugu State. The governor had earlier on arrival at the university before the lecture, officially unveil SUMAS  after being conducted round the university by the Vice-chancellor, Prof James Ogbonna. Elections: Nsukka Ezue advocates for free, peaceful polls

By Agency Report  As the general elections in draw closer, a socio-cultural group under the aegis of ”Nsukka Ezue” has advocated for free and peaceful elections The group made the call in Nsukka on Thursday during a political dialogue tagged "Free and Peaceful 2023 Election in Nigeria: Focus on Enugu North Senatorial Zone" was organized by the Nsukka Ezue The event  was attended by representatives of political parties, traditional rulers, civil society organisations, academia among others. Your 8-month withheld salaries will be paid soon - ASUU National President

By Agency Report Prof Emmanuel Osodeke the National President of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has assured members that very soon Federal Government will pay the 8-month withheld salaries of members in 2022. Government had in 2022 withheld 8-months salaries of ASUU members who embarked on nationwide strike in public universities from February 14 to October 14 2022 to enforce government  policy of "No work no pay". Osodeke gave the assurance in Nsukka on Wednesday in a remark during a seminar cum foundation laying stone of ASUU UNN  branch secretariat. He said that with the present unity in the union,  government had no option rather than to pay the withheld salaries "The reason government and their agents have continued to  try  creat disunity is to ensure  members will not speak in one voice. "But I am happy that every attempt by government to create disunity  even by withholding  members salaries failed. " I am assuring you that very soo
