Nsukka Group solicits support for President Tinubu, to move the country forward

By Our Reporter Nsukka Ezue, a non-partisan socio-cultural association has solicited support for President Bola Tinubu from all Nigerians in order to move the country forward. Nsukka Ezue an association that had its membership from Enugu North Senatorial District of Enugu State, made the call in a communique issued in Nsukka on Tuesday after its first meeting this year signed by Prof Demian Opata the National President. Opata said everybody in the country irrespective of political affiliation should support Tinubu's administration given the fact that the Supreme Court had successfully resolved all election petitions arising from the 2023 general elections. " It is now time for all to support government at all levels to foster development in all sectors of the economy and uplift the welfare of the people. First woman to deliver UNN Herbert Macaulay Memorial lecture since 1978

By Agency Report Mrs. Jane Egerton-Idehen, an Engineer and the Managing Director, Nigerian Satellite Communications Limited (NIGCOMSAT) will be the first female  to deliver the Herbert Macaulay Memorial Lecture (HMML) in University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) since established in 1978.    Prof Emenike Ejiogu, Dean, Faculty of Engineering of UNN disclosed this in Nsukka on Wednesday in statement issued at the end of Faculty of Engineering Board meeting. He said  that the board had approved Egerton-Idehen to deliver the 20th edition that will hold from 3rd  to 4th of May 2024 tilted, “Harnessing Practical Engineering Solutions for Sustainable Economic Development.”. Ejiogu explained that the lecture was established in 1978 by the faculty to honour and preserve the memory of Herbert Macaulay, an engineer and Nigeria’s foremost nationalist. According to Ejiogu, prominent Nigerians such as  former President. Olusegun Obasanjo, Late Dr. Alex Ekwueme, former Vice President of the country.

Medical Outreach: Expert attributes hardship to increase in diabetes, hypertension

By Agency Report Prof Godwin Onyebueke, Consultant Physician at Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, Parklane says the increase in diabetes and hypertension cases is as result of economic stress caused by hardship in the country. Onyebueke Leader Medical Outreach of Prof Benjamin Ozumba,  former Vice-chancellor, University of Nigeria Nsukka, disclosed this in Nsukka on Saturday at Edem-ani Hospital Nsukka, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State. Ozumba Medical Outreach was one  of the activities lined up by Ozumba to mark his retirement from civil service and his 70th birthday on March 21. By Agency Report Prof Jonah Onuoha, former Head of Department Political Science, University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) says the present economic hardship in the country is not the best time to implement the Steve Oronsaye Panel report of 2012 that will make many civil service lose their jobs. Onuoha who is the Director, Centre for American Studies in UNN said this in Nsukka over the weekend while reacting on recent approval by  Federal Executive Council (FEC) for full implementation of Oronsaye report. Prof. Chinenye Anyadike, Department of Agric. & Bioresources Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) who is  Principal Investigator of the project disclosed this in Nsukka on Saturday during a policy dialogue on the Future of Agriculture. According to Anyadike, participants were drawn from agriculture stakeholders, farmers and academia to analyse the effects of  AI in producing , marketing, and management of Nsukka Yellow Pepper, that is the project's pilot crop. Power company to install 240kw Solar Plant, build Car Park in UNN

By Ikemefuna Ikem Mr. Edu Okeke, the Managing Director of Azura Power West Africa Limited, an Independent Power Producer based in Edo State says it will install 240 kilowatts of solar energy and build 80 capacity car park in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). Okeke who is an alumnus of UNN disclosed this in Nsukka on Friday during the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the 240KW Solar electrification and Car Park Construction Project. He said when the project is completed in May this year that it will provide uninterrupted power supply in all the departments in the Faculty of Engineering.
