Former CP appeals to Gov. Mbah to rescind decision to demolish Nsukka market

By Agency Report A retired Commissioner of Police, Chief Sunny Ngwu has  appealed to Gov, Peter Mbah to have a rethink on the planned demolition of part of Ogige Main Market, Nsukka, in Nsukka local government Area of Enugu State. Enugu State government had recently marked some parts of the market for demolition to pave way for the planned construction of Bus Terminal by government and has given affected traders ultimatum to vacate the market. Government directed owners of the affected shops to submit their documents for verification and possibly compensation by government. Briefing newsmen in Nsukka, Ngwu begged the Governor to consider the plight of the traders given the present harsh economic  situation in the country and reconsider his decision. Herdsmen killings: Farmers desert farms in Nimbo, says Sen Utazi, urges govt urgent intervention

By Agency Report Sen Chukwuka Utazi who represented Enugu North Senatorial District from 2015 to 2023 in Senate says as result of constant killing of farmers in Nimbo, in Uzo-uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State by suspected herdsmen native and migrant farmers in the area have deserted their farms for fear of being killed. Utazi said this in a statement signed by himself and available to newsmen on Thursday while reacting to last Sunday (April 28) killings of four farmers in Nimbo by herdsmen. First woman to deliver UNN Herbert Macaulay Memorial lecture since 1978

By Agency Report Mrs. Jane Egerton-Idehen, an Engineer and the Managing Director, Nigerian Satellite Communications Limited (NIGCOMSAT) will be the first female  to deliver the Herbert Macaulay Memorial Lecture (HMML) in University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) since established in 1978.    Prof Emenike Ejiogu, Dean, Faculty of Engineering of UNN disclosed this in Nsukka on Wednesday in statement issued at the end of Faculty of Engineering Board meeting. He said  that the board had approved Egerton-Idehen to deliver the 20th edition that will hold from 3rd  to 4th of May 2024 tilted, “Harnessing Practical Engineering Solutions for Sustainable Economic Development.”. Ejiogu explained that the lecture was established in 1978 by the faculty to honour and preserve the memory of Herbert Macaulay, an engineer and Nigeria’s foremost nationalist. According to Ejiogu, prominent Nigerians such as  former President. Olusegun Obasanjo, Late Dr. Alex Ekwueme, former Vice President of the country.

Medical Outreach: Expert attributes hardship to increase in diabetes, hypertension

By Agency Report Prof Godwin Onyebueke, Consultant Physician at Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, Parklane says the increase in diabetes and hypertension cases is as result of economic stress caused by hardship in the country. Onyebueke Leader Medical Outreach of Prof Benjamin Ozumba,  former Vice-chancellor, University of Nigeria Nsukka, disclosed this in Nsukka on Saturday at Edem-ani Hospital Nsukka, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.
