Enugu new transport commissioner pledges to resuscitate ENTRCO

Chief Andy Omeje, the new Commissioner for Transport in Enugu State has pledged to resuscitate  the state owned transport company, Enugu State Transport Company (ENTRCO).

Omeje who said this on Monday in Nsukka while  speaking with newsmen shortly after his meeting with Ebube Adada,  a social political group whose membership is drawn from Enugu North Senatorial District.

The commissioner said he had identified challenges of the transport ministry and would go ahead to tackle them as soon as possible.

The immediate past Council Chairman of Igboeze-South Local Government Area said he would first resuscitate and reinvigorate ENTRCO to bounce back to life because of its importance in transportation in the state and beyond.

"I know the important role  of ENTRCO  as transport company of Enugu State and other states in the country the company covers.

"There is no ministry in this country that has no challenges, the good thing is to identify the challenges so as to solve the problems and move the ministry forward.

"Very soon, ENTRCO will receive a new lease of life and will be able to compete favourably with any state transport company in the country,"he said.

The newly appointed commissioner urged staff of the ministry  to continue to carry out their duties with dedication and patriotism as the administration under his watch would ensure thier total welfare.

"I know the staff of the ministry are  hardworking but there is still room for improvement so that we can move the ministry to enviable height," he said.

The commissioner said one of the aims of the meeting was to  mobilise Ebube Adada one of the leading social political groups in the district for Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for the district.

"My support for the governor's senatorial ambition is total and comprehensive as he has impacted positively on residents of Enugu State.

"The district and Enugu state in general have witnessed unprecedented  transformations under Ugwuanyi's administration since 2015 he assumed office.

"Ebube Adada will mobilise support and ensure victory for Ugwuanyi in 2023 general elections, he said.

Omeje said the support to ensure Ugwuanyi's victory in 2023 was to  appreciates his good work in the district as well as in the state  for the past seven years and to encourage him to  do more.

"Gov Ugwuanyi's  good leadership quality  has endeared him to the people of Enugu State and the country in general," he said.

Speaking earlier during the meeting, one of the founding members of Ebube Adada,  Mr Chidi Concord said the group had great respect for Omeje.

He said this is because of his numerous achievements as LG chairman of Igboeze-South as well as his love for youths.

"The youths in the district is happy on the appointment of Omeje as the new transport commissioner in Enugu State after he served as LG chairman of Igboeze-South.

"Ebube Adada will support governor's senatorial bid in 2023  because the Ugwuanyi has done very well in the state," he said.
