2023: LP will collapse wall of corruption, rescue Nigerians from poverty - Enugu guber candidate

By Agency Reporter

Chief Chijioke Edeoga, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Enugu State says the mission of the party was to pull down the wall of corruption in the country and rescue Nigerians from poverty.

Edeoga says this in Nsukka on Saturday during the LP Gubernatorial Maga Rally in Enugu North Senatorial District of Enugu State.

He said the presidential candidate of the party Mr. Peter Obi, his vice, and all the LP  candidates in the country have the capacity, integrity, and track records to rescue the country.

"The mission of the party is to pull down the wall of corruption in the country and rescue Nigerians from poverty.

"Nigerians will heave a sigh of relief by God's grace in 2023 when LP will take over the government of federal and states as well as national and state assemblies of this country," he said.

The former Adviser to Ex-president Goodluck Jonathan on National Assembly Matters said if elected in 2023 he would change the narrative of poor governance, and decay in infrastructures especially in the roads network where many communities have been cut off from the Enugu State capital.

The governorship candidate said the most hit in this infrastructural decay and bad roads is Enugu North district in spite of the fact that the incumbent governor of the state is from the district.

"If elected I  will clean the tears of the people from the district that has suffered neglect for many decades.

"Because of bad roads, residents of Igboetiti LG among others in Enugu North district find it difficult and pay more money, to go to the state capital.

"Yes, I am from Isi-Uzo LG in Enugu East Senatorial District but Nsukka blood runs in me, I schooled in Nsukka, my parents lived in Nsukka and my wife is from Nsukka.

"I am happy about the huge crowd in this rally today which is eloquent testimony  of massive support for Labour Party to change the narrative in Enugu State in 2023," he said

Also speaking, Mr. Uchenna Agbo, Chairman of LP Enugu State, said that the party has come to rescue the state from corruption and backwardness, adding that the crowd witnessed at the rally was a demonstration of victory to the party.

"Labour party is here to rescue Enugu state from corruption, from kidnapping, from bad governance, from infrastructure decay if elected at all levels in 2023.

"Our mission is to restore the confidence of the people in governance with the provision of adequate democracy dividends," he said.

The chairman while receiving the new members from other parties numberin over 100 who joined LP, assured them that the party will carry them along in everything.

In a remark, Mr. Okey Ezea, the senatorial candidate of LP for Enugu North Senatorial district said that the rally was an affirmation of victory for the party in the district and the state, in general, come 2023 given the mammoth crowd at the event.

Ezra debunked the rumour in some quarters and social media that he had discussed and reached a private agreement with his main opponent, Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who is the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), insisting that no amount of money will make him compromise his ambition.

"It's a lie and fake news from the pit of hell that, I have a private discussion with Ugwuanyi on how to step down for him.

"I will never discuss with Ugwuanyi on this my senatorial bid even for 100 billion nairas because I know I will defeat him in 2023 general elections," he said.

Earlier in a remark, Chief Chidi Obata, Chairman Central Planning Committee of the rally and Labour party Candidate for Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency, said that the party would end corruption in Enugu state in particular and the country in general.

Obetta blamed the high cost of fuel in Enugu North senatorial district as a result of bad roads as complained by transporters, assuring that LP will correct the all wrongs of the past administrations.

He thanked the party faithful and supporters for turning out in large numbers to give massive solidarity to the party.

"This is a demonstration of love, support, and acceptance for LP and her candidates in Enugu state and the country, "Obetta said.

As a result of the rally, major roads in Nsukka town on Saturday witnessed heavy traffic gridlock as LP party faithful and supporters numbering over twenty thousand marched through major roads before starting the event at Nsukka boys High school field.

All the candidates of LP in 2023 in the district with their huge supporters attended the rally, which many people have described as the biggest political rally in Nsukka in the past years.
