Nsukka Youths Association (NYA) on Wednesday held an interactive forum with House of Assembly  candidates in the area, to know what they have for  the people if elected in March 11 general election.

NYA is an umbrella body of youths from the nine  communities that made up Nsukka town, in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State

Comrade Onyekachi Omeje, the President General of NYA disclosed this in a meeting between members of the association and  candidates in Nsukka West State Constituency of Enugu State.

Omeje said that the essence of the interface with candidates was to know their manifestoes and what they would do for Nsukka people if elected.

"We invited all the seven candidates contesting for the Nsukka West state Constituency to have face to face discussion with  to enable us know the tcandidate who have a better plan for the constituency if elected.

"We are happy that they honoured our invitation,  we want them to always have Nsukka interest first in their agenda," he said.

The youth leader, advised  candidates not to allow the election to damage bond of brotherhood among them as Nsukka people

The president however, urged the contestants to avoid using youths in the area for any form of political thuggery or violence now, during and after the election.

"The association will not be happy if any of the candidates involve any youth in  election violence and thuggery," he said.

The candidates in their separate remarks, thanked the association for giving them the opportunity to tell the people about their manifesto as well as what they would do for the people if elected.

One of the candidates Mr Uchenna Ugwuanyi, the Candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) while  said that if elected  he would sponsor bills on agriculture and youth empowerment.

Ugwuanyi said that, he would also use his connections within and outside the country  to attract quality democracy dividends.

"From my findings, poor funding for agriculture and unemployment in the country are the leading factors responsible for insecurity in the country.

"If there is adequate investment in agriculture and massive employment especially for youths, I have no doubt that insecurity in the country will be a thing of the past" he said.

Other House of assembly candidates present during the event include;  Hon Amos Agbo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, represented by Mr. Ezechinedu Celestine, his Campaign Director.

Mr Peter Ugwu, Candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC), among others.
