UNN-VC flags off construction of World Bank Centre of Excellence building

By Ikemefuna Ikem Prof Charles Igwe, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has flagged off the construction of a two-story building of the World Bank-funded Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Power and Energy Development (ACE-SPED) in the university. Flagging off the building construction on Thursday in Nsukka, the VC commended the World Bank for selecting UNN proposal among others for the establishment of the ACE-SPED. He said that the university will use its manpower to ensure that the objective of the centre which is aimed at providing solutions to the problems of energy and power with local content is achieved. "I'm happily flagging off the building project of the Centre, I implore the contractor handling the project to complete it at the specified period. Bishop Agbo lauds Class '88 of NHS for renovating 4 classroom block in their alma mater

By Agency Report Bishop Aloysius Agbo of Nsukka Anglican Diocese has commended the class of 1988 Old boys students of Nsukka High School (NHS) for renovating a dilapidated four-classroom building in their alma mater. Agbo made the commendation in Nsukka on Monday during the handover of the renovated classroom block to the principal and management of the school. Nsukka High School is one of the missionary Secondary Schools owned by the Nsukka Anglican Diocese. The bishop said that what Class 88 did in renovating the dilapidated classroom building was commendable and should be emulated by other old classes of the school. By Agency Report Nsukka Catholic Bishop has advised the newly coronated traditional ruler of Ukwuotu, Edenu, Ede Oballa community in Nsukka Local government area of Enugu State Prof Vitalis Onah who is professor at American University Curacao, not  to allow people go back to idol worship. UNN signs agreement to develop ICT software for Japanese companies

By Ikemefuna Ikem The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has signed an outsourcing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) agreement with some Japanese companies to develop software. The agreement which was signed at the Shinjuku ward, Sankaku Hiroba Event Centre of Sumitomo Corp, Tokyo, Japan, was between Appleach Corporation, Japan, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Nahfconnects for Africa and the World Inc, Japan. Prof. Charles Igwe, the Vice Chancellor of UNN, who signed the agreement with the firms on Friday, described the event as a welcome development and an inroad to a robust economic relationship between the University, Africa, and Japan. Igwe enjoined other world economies to be disposed to knowledge transfer and research collaborations in order to revive the global economy from the ruins of the COVID-19 pandemic. “This is a welcome development, I am happy that the collaboration and agreement is being signed between my Institution and these Japanese firms d
