Don says energy transition, is a necessity for every nation

Ejiogu said this in Nsukka on Saturday in a keynote speech during a seminar titled "Opportunity and Challenges of the Energy Transition and the Need for Investments in Renewable." Forum accuses UNN of excluding Abia indigenes in appointments

By Agency Report A scio-cultural organisation under the aegis of Abia Forum Nsukka (AFN) in University of Nigeria Nsukka, says indigenes from the Abia State have been excluded in top appointments in UNN. Prof Jonah Onuoha, Director, Centre for American Studies UNN and pioneer President of AFN said this in Nsukka on Friday while delivering the forum  maiden lecture series . Titled: "The Last Kick of a Dieing Horse: An inquiry into the challenges and way forward for Abia Forum, UNN." Onuoha said to ensure balance, equity and fair play, the position of vice chancellor and other key offices in UNN shoud be rotated among the state within the catchment areas of the university. By Agency Report The former Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo has called for synergy between government policies, research, and industrial needs so as to fast track national development. Nebo made the call in Nsukka on Wednesday while delivering the 15th Eni Njoku Memorial Lecture titled: "Science and Technology as Allies with Governance in Wealth Creation and Poverty Eduction," Held at the Princess Alexandria Auditorium, University of  Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). He warned that without this synergy the nation would continue to  witness low development, resulting in over-bloated labour market. "There is urgent need for a synergy   between government policies research, industry needs so as to boost national development. "Currently, this connection is lacking in education sector and government in the country. "Without the connection, the nation will continue to witness poor development and her labour market will forever remain over-bloated," he said.

Tension in Enugu community over inconclusive traditional ruler election

By Our Reporter Attempt by Enugu State Ministry of Chieftaincy Matters to conduct election in Alor-Agu community, Igboeze-South Local Government Area  to get a new traditional ruler for the community has ended in deadlock. Mr Christian Ugwuanyi and Mr Okwu Omeke are two people  in the igweship contest in Alor-Agu, on who would succeed late Simon Ameh, the last Traditional Ruler of the community who died in 2018. Speaking  to newsmen on Monday shortly after the inconclusive election, Mr Emmanuel Jonathan, a member of the community and a stakeholder expressed  his dissatisfaction on the delegates from the chieftaincy for abandoning the election midway. Aku JOFRAN Global Concept (AJGC) the company that represents Nigeria in all  international Honey Exhibitions and the only Honey Exporter in the country has set up honey processing factory in Nsukka, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State. Chief Ifeanyichukwu Okpo, the Managing Director of AJGC, disclosed this in Nsukka, in an interview with our reporter while given reasons why he sited the honey processing factory in Nsukka. Okpo said  that, his first honey factory is located in Abuja and why he decided to sit the second one in Nsukka is because of nearness of raw materials for the factory.
