2023: Rep aspirant in Nsukka pledges accountability, effective representation if elected

Chief Chidi Obetta, Aspirant for Nsukka/Igboeze-South Federal constituency says accountability, transparency and effective representation will be his watchword if elected in 2023 general elections.

Obetta made the pledge in Nsukka on Sunday at Nsukka PDP party office while declaring his intention to contest the House of Representatives seat of the constituency.

He said he would give the constituency effective representation by attracting many democracy dividends as well as empowering more people.

"I have empowered many in the constituency as a private person both those I have assisted in their business and those I employed in my hotels.

"Then wonder what will happen  if I am elected to represent you in National Assembly there will be more empowerment and employment opportunities.

" I am here to solicit from party executives and entire party faithful to enable me to emerge as the  party candidate in primary election.

Four years ago, I came here to declare my intention to represent you in the National Assembly. We all toiled to actualise that dream but when the instruction came from the party hierarchy, as party loyal member, I obeyed" he said.

The aspirant said he would build two constituency offices one  in Nsukka and one in Igbo-Eze South for easy interface with  constituents, I would also hold reqular town hall meetings to get input of the people on national issues.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jerry Marriot Hotels, assured party officials, delegates and constituents that he had all t takes to represent and attract meaningful development to the constituency.

Obetta commended  Governor of Enugu State, Mr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for his peaceful nature, added that Enugu is one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria because of the governor’s commitment to security of lives and property of residents in the state.

"PDP has always appointed  Ugwuanyi into most of its essential committees because of his ability to enthrone peace in seemingly impossible situations," he said.

Speaking during the event, the PDP Ward Chairman of Ibagwani/ Ibagwa Agu/ Okpaligbo/Utogbolo Mr Stephen Ezema, commended Obetta for providing employment opportunities for the people of the constituents.

Ezema described Obetta as a devoted party faithful who has sacrificed so much for the growth of PDP and urged constituents to vote him into power as way to pay him back for his numerous good work.

Earlier, a party stakeholder in the constituency, Prof. Athanasius Eze,  lauded the aspirant’s contributions to the growth of the party in  the ward, LG, state as well as in the country .
Eze urged deligates to massively vote for Obetta so that he would emerge as PDP candidate in 2023 in order to move the constituency to the next level.

Responding, Mr Fabian Onah, PDP Nsukka LGA Chairman welcomed Obetta to the party office and promised that the party would ensure equal playing ground for all aspirants in primaries.

"My promise to u is that the party will given equal opportunity without any discrimination before and during the party primaries," he said.

NAN reports that, Nsukka PDP office witnessed huge crowd that accompanied Obetta to party office, they were seen  beating  their drums and singing party solidarity songs for Obetta.
