Gov. Ugwuanyi commends Edem-Ani community for unity, peaceful co-existence

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has commended the people of  Ugwunagbo proposed autonomous community in Edem-Ani Nsukka Local Government Area of the state for the existing peace and unity in the community.

The Governor made the commendation in Nsukka on Monday when he paid a visit to Chief Jude Eze, the Traditional Ruler elect of the Ugwunagbo proposed autonomous community at his residence.

He said that the unity and peace in Ugwubagbo were commendable and should be a good example to other communities in the state.

"I am impressed with oneness, unity of purpose, and peaceful co-existanece among members of the community and call for its sustainability.

"If you people have agreed together to have Ugwunagbo as an autonomous community, then I will not be the one to say no to your demand,'' he said.

Ugwuanyi expressed appreciation for the maximum support and solidarity the people of Edem-Ani have been giving his administration since its inception in 2015.

In a remark, Eze expressed gratitude to Ugwuanyi for the visit as well as the people of Edem-Ani for coming out in their numbers to welcome the governor.

"I am happy today that my people have shown the governor that we are united like a broom tired together.

"Residents' massive turnout today to welcome you is an eloquent testimony of our unity as well as our love for you as our governor," he said.

Eze commended the governor for the massive infrastructural development in Enugu state since he assumed office in 2015 and how he handed Enugu State to God.

"Enugu has remained the most. peaceful state in the country since 2015 because Ugwuanyi handed over the state to God Almighty.

"The governor commended Edem-Ani for being peaceful but is on record that it's his administration that planted peace we are enjoying in Enugu state since 2015," he said.

Earlier, Chief Christian Ugwu the town Union President of the Edem-Ani community thanked the governor for his love for the community assuring him of their continuous support and loyalty.

"Edem-Ani people will forever remain grateful to you for several appointments of your administration to our sons and daughters.

"And remembering our community in infrastructural development especially the ongoing construction of Edem-Ani road.

"The people are happy because the community has begged successive governments in the state for this road connecting Edem-Ani to Nsukka town.

" You are the only governor that hears our cry to construct this road for us, and because of that we will vote massively for your party People Democratic Party in the 2023 general election," he said.

Prof Felix Asogwa, chairman of the Enugu state committee on the creation of autonomous communities who is from the community, Chief Vita Abba, the People Democratic Party candidate for Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal constituency, Hon Emma Ugwuerua, Member Representing Nsukka West in Enugu state House of Assembly, HRH Igwe Samuel Asadu, the traditional ruler of Edem-Ani community, and Mr. Walter Ozioke, council chairman of Nsukka LGA were among dignitaries present during the governor's visit.
