Nsukka Chamber of Commerce to make the zone, Enugu State economic hub

The Nsukka Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NSCCIMA) says that it will transform Nsukka Zone to make it  economic hub in Enugu State.

Mr. Uchenna Nnadi, the Director General of the Chamber, disclosed this in a  statement issued in Nsukka on Tuesday stating that NSCCIMA as non-religious and non-political, but an institution  for economic advocacy for  development and growth of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs).

He said that the principal objective of the Chamber is to mobilise SMEs and seek collaborations to make Nsukka Zone an economic hub in Enugu State and a desired destination for foreign and local investors

"NSCCIMA is harnessing every opportunity in Nsukka to make the zone the enviable economic hub of agro production, aggregation and processing, and industrialisation in Enugu state for investors.

"The Adada, Ebọnyị, Amanyị, Obinna, Ọmambara among other rivers in Nsukka zone will be harnessed to provide irrigation for all year-round agro production, water supply, and power generation.

"The geographical gateway status of the zone offers it the special distribution logistic centre in Nigeria, with potential for modern Trucks Transit Park, and Dry Port;.

"These will receive raw materials for the industry and evacuate the cement from Nigercem and the processed agro products from the Zone," he said .

According to him, the clusters of traditional commodity markets throughout the Zone offer investors the opportunity of a modern and global commodity exchange market, agro aggregation and processing .

"The technical clusters at Ụmakashị industrial layout (Site/Mechanic Village) Nsukka, and Ubolo Afọ together with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Federal Poly, Ohodo.

"The State University of Medical and Applied Sciences Igbo Eno, Enugu (SUMAS), Madụka University and Iwollo Poly Campus at Ezimo offer the Zone solid foundation for industrialization and its own Silicon Valley.

"NSCCIMA is mobilising key stakeholders in the public and private sectors to provide the infrastructures and enabling environment as incentives for investors " he said.

The DG said further that, the zone is fortunate to have Mr. Sam Otoboeze of Barr Sam Otoboeze Foundation as the new President of NSCCIMA.

"His investiture as the 2nd President and inauguration of Executiv Council of NSCCIMA will take place at Adada Hall Nsukka on the 11th of November.
"With Gov Peter Mbah and the Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District in Senate, Chief Okey Ezea as Special Guest of Honour and Guest Speaker respectively," he said.

He noted that the investiture will among other activities include the Pre-investiture industrial visit at Ingrace Group, an indigenous business conglomerate, unveiling of the new strategic initiatives of the chamber.

Other are; Unveiling of entrepreneurs in the Zone as part of kicking off the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), and conferment of patrons of the chamber, to eminent Nigerian

Nnadi noted that the Chamber mobilizes its key stakeholders through various activities such as; Strategic bilateral and multilateral engagements with the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and other relevant organizations.

"By orrganising Local Trade Fairs, and Foreign Trade Missions for SMEs, Town and Gown programmes with universities and other tertiary institutions for  rapid development of businesses in the zone," he said.
