Sen Utazi empowers 30 constituents with N300,000 grant each

Sen Chukwuka Utazi the immediate past Senator who represented Enugu North Senatorial District in Senate has empowered 30 indigent constituents with N300,000 grant each to put into their business.

Presenting a cheque of N300.000 each in Nsukka on Friday to the 30 beneficiaries from different local governments of the district at Nsukka Micro Finance Bank.

Utazi urged them to ensure that the money was put into their business so that it would grow bigger and they would make more profit.
 
He explained that, the empowerment was part of  his constituency project domiciled in Small Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SEMEDAN) and Nsukka Microfinance Bank as the implementing bank.

"You are expected to put this grant into you business so that it will grow and  you will make more profit and improve your standard of living.

"In the last eight years as senator of this district , I have empowered many people from the district various ways.

"In December 2022, 116  received this same grant, your are receiving your own today because the entire money for the grant was not completely released last year,"he said.

According to him, the beneficiaries who made the list were screened seriously as well as consideration of recommendations from their church clerics and other stakeholders.

The senator reminded  the beneficiaries that in the next five months he would visit them to find out if actually they put the money into thier business as required.

"Ensure you make judicious use of the grant as in the next five months I will come and check whether the grant is judiciously used or not.

"I am happy  I have kept the  promise I made to God  when I was elected, that I will serve the district with honesty by not  tampering with anything given to me  give my constituents ,"he said.

Utazi expressed optimisms and confidence on his successor Sen Okey Ezea, to  continue where he stopped through effective and quality representation of the district.

Speaking, Mr. Elvis Chukwu, the Managing Director of Nsukka Microfinance Bank, thanked the senator for his love and having the interest and welfare of the district at heart.

Chukwu urged beneficiaries to make good  use of  the golden opportunity of the grant given to them to improve their business and become successful business men and women in future.

"I urge  beneficiaries to make judicious use of this grant to transform  and upgrade their business and become future millionaires.

"We thank God that Senator Utazi was able to attract and deliver this grant to indigent members of his district.

"116 people benefited  last December and today another 30, I therefore call on all the beneficiaries to ensure that they put the money into what it's meant for , so that it will better and change their lives," he said.

Responding on behalf of the 30 beneficiaries, Mr. Samuel Ikpa thanked Utazi for his quality representation of the district during his eight years in Senate.

Ikpa said Utazi attracted many democracy dividends to the district  as well as empowered many constituents as senator

"Enugu North district people will continue to be proud of your effective and quality representation.

"Our prayer is that, in no distant time you (Utazi) will be given a higher appointment, having served your people diligently and transparently as senator for eight years,"Ikpa said.
