Congress: Asuu-unn Agrees To Resume Academic Activities

By Agency Reporter Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) University of Nigeria Nsukka chapter, on Tuesday officially agreed to resume academic activities during its congress. Dr. Christian Opata, the Chairman of ASUU-UNN said this while speaking with newsmen in Nsukka on Tuesday shortly after the union's congress in UNN. Opata said that the aim of the congress was to inform lecturers to resume academic activities following the suspension of the nationwide strike by ASUU National leadership on October 14. "After this congress members of ASUU-UNN are free to engage in any academic activity in the university. "The agreement to resume academic activities is in respect of directive from our national headquarters that suspended the strike on October 14 to enable students to return to school," he said. The ASUU boss, however,  urged Federal Government to do its part now that lecturers have done their part by resuming academic activities, to ensure industry harm

Enugu: Security chief campaigns against drug abuse, charges youths to report criminals

Commander Anselem Odo of Central Body Neigbourhood Watch Organisation, Igbo-Eze North Chapter, and his team, yesterday, the 27th day of September 2022 sensitized  Amachalla Autonomous Community Youths and others. The sensitization centered on security due to the recent killings and vandalization of properties without provocation in Igbo-Eze North Council Area and beyond. Addressing the crowd at Central School, Amachalla in Enugu-Ezike, Commander Odo noted that critical investigation has revealed that the root cause of the unlawful activities of the youths in the recent time is as a result of abuse of drugs like Marijuana, tramadol, cocaine, and others. He, therefore, urged the youths to desist from drug abuse and every activity that could endanger their lives. 2023: Enugu Youths coalition sues for issue-based campaign

By Our Reporter  As the campaign for the 2023 general elections is set to officially kick off tomorrow (Wednesday), a coalition of youth presidents from Senatorial Districts in Enugu Stata has urged political leaders and stakeholders from various Political parties to adopt an issue-based campaign to ensure peace and stability in the state . This was contained in a statement jointly signed by Roy Ekwueme, President Nsukka Youths General Assembly, Edeani Edeani President Nkanu Youths Assembly and Nebo Samuel Ebube, President Enugu west Youths forum on Tuesday and was made available to newsmen. Ohanaeze Ndigbo calls for preservation of kola nut traditional rites

By Our Reporter The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has called on Igbos to explore the various practices associated with traditional presentation and breaking of kola nut (Iwa Oji) and preserve them for upcoming generations . The call was contained in a communique issued in Nsukka on Friday signed by Prof Damian Opata, Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Nsukka Local Government chapter after its one-day seminar, tagged; 'Iwa Oji' held at Adada Hall of Nsukka LG council headquarters, Enugu State, on 21st September 2022. The communique noted that the reason for the seminar was anchored on the need to explore the practices associated with the traditional practices of presentation and breaking of kola nut in Nsukka LGA and the need to maintain them as well as pass them over to the younger generation.
