Enugu: Security chief campaigns against drug abuse, charges youths to report criminals


Commander Anselem Odo of Central Body Neigbourhood Watch Organisation, Igbo-Eze North Chapter, and his team, yesterday, the 27th day of September 2022 sensitized  Amachalla Autonomous Community Youths and others.

The sensitization centered on security due to the recent killings and vandalization of properties without provocation in Igbo-Eze North Council Area and beyond.

Addressing the crowd at Central School, Amachalla in Enugu-Ezike, Commander Odo noted that critical investigation has revealed that the root cause of the unlawful activities of the youths in the recent time is as a result of abuse of drugs like Marijuana, tramadol, cocaine, and others. He, therefore, urged the youths to desist from drug abuse and every activity that could endanger their lives.

Onyekachi Eya Community Youths leader, Amachalla Autonomous Community, on behalf of the youths commended Commander Anselem Odo for identifying the root cause of the insecurity in their area and pledged his readiness to cooperate with the security agencies in curtailing the menace.

Mrs. Gladdis Ogbonna, who spoke on behalf of the women, implored the security agencies to always punish any youth/s caught with drugs or other related substances. She also expressed that she would arrange other women for weekly prayers for the youths to repent from their evil acts.

The President General (PG) Amachalla Autonomous Community, Mr. Odo Christian, expressed that (80%) of the insecurity ravaging their area is caused by those agitating for the actualization of Biafra. He, therefore, implored the agitators to
shed their swords and throw their support for Mr. Peter Obi, who according to him would solve the problem of the South East when elected as the president of Nigeria, 2023.

At this juncture, Commander Odo and his entourage proceeded to Umuida and Umuonu Autonomous Communities for the same Campaign, where they met with HRH Igwe Felix Attah, Isi Enyi 1 of Umuida, and HRH Igwe Ambrose Eze, Ogbuebule 1 of Umuonu.

The aforementioned traditional rulers and their subjects gladly received the security team and separately expressed their readiness to organize seminars on security and drug abuse for the youths in their communities.

HRH Igwe Attah prayed to God to continue to protect and promote Commander Odo for keeping watch while others snore.

Don kicks against implementation of Oronsaye report

By Agency Report Prof Jonah Onuoha, former Head of Department Political Science, University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) says the present economic hardship in the country is not the best time to implement the Steve Oronsaye Panel report of 2012 that will make many civil service lose their jobs.
